Welcome!
I am Amber and I am SO excited to be sharing a project with you on the Mixed Media Blog!
I used some fantastic supplies that I will explain - first.... take a look!

Supplies used:
Stamp: Unity (Layers of Life-Create Beauty), SU - Gorgeous Grunge Ink: Versamark, Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Blackened Soot,  (SU)Black Archival Paper: (SU) Basic Black base (4.25 x 5.5), Vellum, Smoky Slate (3.75 x 4.75),  Whisper White (3.5 x 4.5), Silver Foil Dies: (SU) Stars Embellishments: SU - Silver elastic cord, Silver Thread Embossing Powder: Black  Mica Powder: Silver  Fun Stampers Journey Silks: Silver

I began by stamping my black base in Versamark with a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge - it is just a random "splatter" stamp. I added black embossing powder and heated it, then set it aside.  I went to work on my white layer, adding layer upon layer of beautiful distress ink - to give that "night sky look" - I also gave my layer a "s…

Image
Hello, everyone!
It is Friday the 13th - and there is no bad luck happening here! It is Freaky Friday over at Scrap n' Stamp - I have  a GREAT project I designed for the Scrap n' Stamp Blog Hop!  You likely arrived via Karla's blog! Her project was WICKED!
Here is what I came up with!

Aren't  the Tim Holtz Ancestors Paper Dolls PERFECT for a Halloween project?? There are so many options; from scrapbook pages... to multi-media projects... to tags... and everything in between!  You can find them over at the Scrap n' Stamp store here. :)  Scrap n' Stamp has an awesome sale going on - Lucky 13 :) there are loads of goodies on SALE! Be sure to check it out!

For my tag, I dipped in to my Distress Ink collection, and used one of my Tim Holtz stencils to layer Fossilized Amber, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, and Black Soot. I then took a brown Distress Crayon and rubbed it through the stencil and used a baby wipe to give it a quick rub - that is how I achieved the lo…

Artists' Choice Challenge

Image
Hi everyone!
This week has only begun, and it already feels a bit overwhelming, people?... doesn't it?  There are days recently we shudder at the world outside and wrap ourselves inside all the goodness we can find.
So today, that is what my "Artists' Choice" is really about.
It's about CHOOSING love over hate.
It's about CHOOSING gratitude over attitude.
In this world there is SO much to be thankful for and on the days where it seems hardest to find it - those are the days we need to fight to cling to it. Like a life raft.
So my project last night was a sort of "therapy". It was me, thumbing my nose at what hate is trying to do.
I just want  the world to be a better place.
I just want people to heal.
And I just want to make pretty things.

So this is my choice.
I am giving thanks.
I am choosing love.
I created this for the Stamp Ink Paper - Cardmaker's Choice challenge.
And I hope you choose gratefulness, hopefulness ... and love.

Love,…

I created a little something for the Snarktoberfest Blog Hop using a Christmas theme! Check it out!

Christmas is still miles away - but... sometimes when you are scared you might be stuck on the "Naughty List" you might want to get the jump on making amends.... it's SO hard to be good ;)
I paired some vintage paper from Stampin Up and Simple Stories for this card and anyone who knows me - my style is Clean and Simple - so all of these layers is WAY out of the box for me :)
 I used Strawberry Jud…

Welcome everyone!
Today I am playing along with the challenge from The Paper Players - it's a fantastic sketch challenge courtesy of Laurie!

I missed last week's challenge and I was SO disappointed - but I had saved that cute polka-dot Coral paper for another project - and luckily it was PERFECT for my design for the challenge!
Here's the details:
Stamp: Katzelkraft Ink: Black Archival (SU) Paper: Pool Party, White (SU), Coral Print (Crate Paper)  Fun Stuff: Balloon Punch (SU), Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions)  Detailed Floral Thinlits  Die(SU)

Happy Hump Day!
Today  I am sharing a quick little design I created!

Wedding season isn't quite over, even though we already have had a few chilly nights here. Harvest will be in full swing soon! I created this card for a lucky Bride & Groom in mind!
I had a little help with some goodies from Stampin Up - including my Lovely Words thinlits and Sunshine Wishes dies! There was NO stamps needed for this card - just a simple wash of some Blushing Bride ink with my Aqua Painter on to a piece of watercolour paper, and mounted on some of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper - I love it !

My Muse!

Image
Welcome back to another week! Mondays can be a bit of a drag - but this week I have a ton of fun stuff happening! Everything from family visiting, to concerts - summer has been hectic, but fun!
I took some time out to get up to my studio and design this "SWEET" little card - I used some Unity goodness for this - and, I got some creative inspiration from a rad designer named Tenia Nelson. Her style ROCKS! Tenia always uses a lot of white space in her design - but her style is so unique!

I used some Nuvo embossing mousse and a stencil from Tim Holtz to add a bit of texture - I really need to play with it more often - it was fun!
I hope to have more time in my studio as the summers winds down - thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch #233

Image
Did I say how much I am LOVING my week off?! No?! Well ... 2 ... TWO - inky projects in one week - and I still have time to play! It's been a blast!
I created this project to play along with CAS(E) This Sketch this week!

I am loving my watercolours right now, and pulled out my Pool Party, Lost Lagoon andIsland Indigo inks from SU for that moody blue background!  I saw the awesome card DT member Donna created with the balloon, and I knew I wanted to use her as my muse - but I saw clouds :)
I couldn't resist using more of my Unity Stamps for this project - I got both the image and sentiment in a grab bag - lucky me! I added a Wink of Stella to my Daffodil Delight and Fresh Fig butterfly, up close it just SPARKLES! I added those sequins from Neat & Tangled for just a bit more shine.
Let me know you were here - leave some love - Thanks for stopping by!

An Inky Long Weekend!

Image
Hello everyone!
Today was the end to a Long Weekend here in my neck of the woods - and while normally that would make me sad, I began holidays on Friday! I am so grateful for a whole week of to relax, and unwind!
We kicked off this weekend with my son coming for a visit - and the time is always too short! But he promised me he will be back soon. :)
It gave me time to get up into my studio today - and admittedly, I have not been up there for quite some time. There were days I would walk in and look around and sadly, my mojo was gone.  Poof.  Nothing.
But today I made up for it.! I created some wonderful designs that I was happy with - and when I noticed the Paper Players Challenge this week - I knew I wanted to play along and create something to get my mojo back on course!

And here is my design!

I started to play with a piece of white CS and my Tim Holtz distress inks, creating that sweet little layer that resembled wood. I stamped a CTMH image I just love and combined with a  wonde…

The Dying Art of Human Connection and Random Kindness

Image
In the 1st time in maybe what feels like forever - this is NOT a Design post here in my blog world.
I feel the need to say and do something important.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of work/life/chaos as I have been dealing with many levels of reality. Meaning: LIFE IS HAPPENING. It's been hitting me with several "WTF" moments at an alarming pace almost daily and I should be wearing a flack jacket for all the #*@* coming my way. My grandmother (Baba) has recently been hospitalized and has exceeded the level of care they can provide for her at the care home she was residing in. This next step of life (meaning = end of life) is one I have always been afraid of - and - I wish I could go back and be a little girl again.

I just want to make pretty things - even if nobody cares. Even if they are more passionate about the whitening brightening power of their toothpaste. Or if they are in to binge-watching horrible drivel on Netflix for hours of their life. I just wa…

Crazy 4 Challenges/Can You Case It

Image
Hello everyone!
This week is bittersweet for me here, over on the blog - as the spring is finally heading in to warmer weather it means the golf resort is open again - and my weekends of freedom will soon come to an end! I always look forward to this time of year - but sadly, I must say goodbye to other loves.  This will be my last post as a DT member for the Can You Case It Challenge team. With my even busier schedule I can only commit to playing with the challenges on a casual basis. This hurts my heart :(

I decided this week to combine two challenges in to one - as the Crazy for Challenges girls have a wonderful color challenge happening, and my Can You Case It team has a wonderful sketch!  Here is my design!

Over at C4C - someone special is celebrating a May birthday - emerald green is the focus this week!
Stampin Up has a new Annual catalog debuting June 1st and I combined new items with some faves that are going to be carried over for another year!

Savvy 7-April Showers

Image
Hello everyone!
I have a pretty card to share with you that I made for the Savvy 7 Blog Hop!
This month, we are designing our projects around the theme "April Showers/May Flowers"
Well, I skipped the flowers this time :)

I needed to create a little "pick-me-up" for someone who could use a lift, and I thought this sentiment and image from Stampin Up!'s Beautiful You stamp set was perfect. I was happy to find out that it was not retiring - there are so many ways you can use it,  it really is a versatile stamp set! I also added a bit of embossing with a folder from Taylored Expressions. I really kept this card simple, and that watercolour with my Zigs was quick and easy.
Be sure to check out all of the hoppers with the Savvy 7 ! Thanks for stopping by!

Atlantic Hearts #210

Happy Monday!
Today I am designing for Atlantic Hearts - and we have another fabulous sketch for you to play with!

I decided to flip the sketch and I used an awesome stamp from Unity called Let's Get Sip Faced - the Versamark ink on the Kraft cardstock really turned out more subtle than I had hoped but the card kinda grew on me ;)
Don't forget to play along with us this week - and be sure to leave me some love below to let me know you stopped by!

Growing In Unity Blog Hop

Image
Hi Unity Friends! I am so happy you stopped by!
I was SO excited to find out that this month the GIU gals from February would get to play along one more time together with a Blog Hop - and I am the last stop - thanks for sticking around!

For my project, I knew I wanted to create a sweet little Mother's Day card, as it is just around the corner - and I have the perfect little Mama I need to send this to  :)
I inked up the image from the Spring Unity kit designed by the uber-talented Heather Rolin, and decided to pair it with a sentiment from the set Another Name For Love. ( I just love how the 1000's of Unity stamps can mix and match to create something 'just right'!)   You totally need them! Get them here!
If this is where you are beginning - be sure to stop at every blog along the way and leave some love to let us know you dropped in - you could be a lucky winner of some crafty goodness!
