Let's Talk

Today started out like most days, with an early morning beginning at 5am. However, today was different from the minute I woke up. I knew today would be the day I wanted to explain to people...why I craft. Why I make pretty things. What makes me make art.

I think everyone has a chapter in their book of life that they aren't proud of; a time and place that they aren't willing to take many people to... or dwell on for the very simple reason that it's dirty. Its dark. Its hard and sometimes painful and even embarrassing. But with today being Bell's Let's Talk Day, it seemed even more important to get this out there. I am not afraid anymore. I can own this. I can do this. For a long time I have been getting stronger. And braver.

When I look back now at what life was like back then, I have to give myself credit. I made some really terrible decisions. I mean...really bad. Things that brought me to where I am now...yes. But things that cost me a lot. I won't …

Challenge Me-Can You Case It #104

Snuck upstairs to the attic this evening to do a quick card for a baby shower, and decided to also try another sketch from the Can You Case It challenge.

Products used:
Cardstock: Real Red, Crumb Cake, Red foil, and vellum
DSP: Love Blossoms Paper stack
Stamp set: Watercolor words -heat embossed with Stampendous hermatite
Small gold beads

Tools: I used Bloomin' Heart thin let dies - I LOVE this although I am still getting the hang of using it and not having to dig it out for an hour... my next purchase may be the new Big Shot die brush, as it might be more convenient to use.

Inking and Thinking

Today was a lesson in patience.
I had set out to have a lot accomplished, and in the grand scheme of things, I suppose I did....they just weren't the things I *really* wanted to do. All in all, it was productive.

While work has been keeping me busy(and my new role there becoming more demanding) I have still kept myself doing the things that matter to me- finding my "happy". I snuck upstairs for some me-time today and got inky.  A couple of the projects I worked on were for a commissioned job. Here are a few peeks at today's fun!

A New Year

Try as I might... I always have the best of intentions...
You know.
I will be consistent, stick with this passion on fire in me. Well, sometimes life gets in the way.
I am so busy it seems, that survival mode kicks in and I spend time just trying to get through the everyday. And yes... I do take "me" time but I don't always have time to document it...write about it, or share it with the world. Haha

Enter today.
I have been lucky enough to have a couple days when creativity no longer had to be put on the back burner. I have been following a wonderful program lately by Melody Ross, called Brave Girls Club. What's that, you ask? Well - check out the link here:
I have been a follower of the movement for years, but only in the last year have I been immersing myself in the message: I am BEAUTIFUL. And BRAVE. And LOVED. So much so that...well, I am now enrolled in Brave Girl University. ! It is going to be a wonderful year of finding my happiness, …
