CYCI #131 - Grey/Yellow/Black Challenge

Can you believe how fast our summer is flying by? Here it is the August long weekend already! With my busy working hours I miss a lot of great weather and "vacation time".... but I have snuck in quite a few days off here and there that has allowed me some small getaways and I am SO grateful - it gives a girl a chance to re-charge her inner batteries! Sometimes, a "staycation" is all you need! :)
This week, Can You Case It has a color challenge for you! We LOVE color challenges!! SO many options! Check out what I did this week!

I started with cardstock from Stampin Up! in Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry and Basic Black and Whisper White. I had a general idea when I first got the Pun Intended hostess set that I wanted to pair it with the sentiment from SU!'s Me=Grateful set.... they go together perfectly! I used my archival black ink for the sentiment, but I Versamarked the image and then heat embossed using Smoky Slate embossing powder from Stampin' Up! Next I us…

CYCI #130 - Happy Birthday to YOU!

How is everyone doing??? This week was HOT! By SK, Canada standards anyway... and with my studio in the attic of my home (where I do not have AC), its been a challenge working on projects and battling humidity and heat.

This week at Can You Case It we have a fantastic birthday challenge for you!

I had a lot of fun with this card, and I figured it can be for young and old alike!  I found a scrap of some paper left from my CTMH stash for a real "country" look, and used my Avery Elle and MFT dies to add that background for my really fun MFT stamp  and die set called "The Whole Herd"! I coloured them with a blender pen and popped them out just a bit, adding a tail of burlap ribbon! Fun, easy and fast, which is nice when you re trying to beat the heat!
Let me know you stopped by, by leaving a comment, and check out all the fabulous Design Team creations over at Can You Case It! And play along! We LOVE seeing all the cards you dream up using our challenge images! See y…

Global Design Project #045-Colour Challenge!

Hello everyone!
I have been working on so many new projects lately, and learning all kinds of new (to ME!) techniques! It's been a blast!
Here is also something new! I have been checking out a bunch of great new challenge blogs lately to keep those creative juices flowing! This week, I spotted something SO AWESOME! The Global Design Project has a fantastic colour challenge this week that ALSO gives some lucky players a chance to be Guest Designers on an upcoming challenge!!! Can you believe it?!  I can't be that lucky...haha...BUT... I decided to play along with the challenge this week, as the colours caught my eye!

I cut a panel of Whisper White CS and some  DSP from the Pop of Pink paper pack using an MFT die from the Stitched Basics set. I also used the SU! die called Sunshine Sayings for my "butterfly"...cutting off the stem of the flower! (I LOVE when a die can be used so many ways!)  I applied some Smoky Slate splashes using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to my…

SIP#56-Christmas In July

Christmas is THE LAST thing I was thinking in the humidity this week, let me tell you! But it has rained now for a few days! And I have begun Christmas card orders already (I hate being behind!) And this week Stamp, Ink, Paper had a Christmas in July challenge that I thought I would play along with! I decided to take a break from cards and create a fun tag to go with a gift!

I used some Heidi Swapp Project Life cards for this, and used the tag Top punch from SU! My Avery Elle stitched circle die was also used and that super-cute grumpy snowman is from the Taylored Expressions stamp and die set called Holiday Grumplings. Isn't he adorable? I have quite a few naughty people on my list this year who be getting a card with that sentiment as well! ;)  Totally non-traditional Christmas colours were needed.... so  I coloured him using A splash of Citrus Leaf (CTMH),  Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight (all from SU!)
To finish it off I used the snowflakes and sequins from m…

CYCI #128 - A Sketch Challenge!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone has recovered from their long weekend shenanigans by now! After all, as you get older, it seems to take a little longer ! I have been running in circles and this weekend is no different - lots of things on the go!
Today on the Can You Case It blog, we are featuring a sketch for all of you creative wizards!
Because this is the busiest part of my summer, I was more than happy for a clean and simple design this week! In fact, I only used a white card stock base, and used a wonderful lime green Project Life card (Heidi Swapp) from her "Favorite Things" Edition. Who says you "have to" use paper?? No way! Those cards sure come in handy for a quick background layer! For the feathers, I used SU!'s Feather die and some Bermuda Bay card stock, and I still had a scrap of CTMH's card stock in "Juniper" for that smaller feather! For the sentiment, I pulled out a stamp from Unity's kit called "Day Made". I found s…

SIP #55 -Sketch Challenge (or... I think the world needs more of this)

The world can be a frightening place sometimes, can't it?
Watching the news, and the horror unfold in Dallas in the last 24 hours, and the senseless loss of lives in the US in the last week has made me curl up and turn off my TV.

I  made this today, to join in the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge, only at the last minute....
I just wanted to decompress ... and I always retreat to the rafters of my crafting studio.

I used my Ken Oliver Color Bursts for the first time ever!
It brightened my mood.... and I heat embossed the image from SU!'s retired set Best Thoughts... ( I love that hydrangea)!
After that, I just didn't know where to go with it... so I used some kraft card stock, a piece of retired DSP from SU! and a scrap of funky copper from my scrap bin! I heat embossed the sentiment from Watercolor Words (also SU!) and used some copper embossing powder from Zing on some vellum.

I was just trying to find my happy place today. And the word "hope" speaks volumes.

Paper Players Challenge #302-Christmas in July!

It's Wonderful Wednesday already!! Can you believe it? I have had THREE glorious days off in a row, and let me tell ya...... I used EVERY minute of them getting inky.
I managed to get ALL of my challenges done for my Design Team commitments ... so I had a little extra time to play today! So before time ran out... I found a challenge from The Paper Players that I was dying to play along with!

Cute, right? So... what do you do when you spot a super-cool idea and get all excited about it - only to find out you do not have the EXACT.SAME.STAMP. (Rewind: back to when I said I hated the whole SU! Painter's Palette suite that was just launched...ya. I am an idiot) ..... So I had to think fast, as I had my heart set on this whole idea (and, I had cut the card stock, haha)
Here's the recipe: Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Old Olive, Real Red, Gold Foil Stamp: Playful Backgrounds Tools: Wonderful Wreath frame lit, Stars framelits Embellishments: (misc) Gold dots (All items SU! unless spe…

CYCI #127

Good morning, everyone!
I hope you are all enjoying the summer sun! Today I am going to be cruising around on the beverage cart on the golf course. (I know, I have a terrible job, don't I?) haha

But before I head out, I want you to check out Can You Case It's challenge this week!

Aren't those colours AMAZING?

For this card I used Bazzil cardstock in lime for the base, and SU!'s Dapper Denim and Tempting Turquoise cut with a Paper Smooches die called Criss Cross! My sentiment is also from Paper Smooches (the stamp set is called Flap Happy). I heat embossed it with white embossing powder and added a couple candy dots from SU! to finish things off!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to see what you come up with using this awesome colour challenge!
