Friends of Unity Blog Hop - Stenciled Card

 Hello again!

Summer has arrived (it's a Long Weekend here - and I know for you in the US it's the biggest summer celebration for you as well- Happy 4th of July a wee bit early!)

Welcome back to another Friends of Unity Blog Hop! Crystal was up first to kick things off and she always inspires me! (If you missed her post - you can find her HERE!

This month our cue is stencils - and Unity has added this fast, fun and easy-on-the-wallet crafty item to their website! yay! But - oddly enough, I do not have a Unity stencil in my stash of goodies (I guess that means I can  go shopping,  right?)  😉 So I created some cards using my Unity stamps and some great stencils I have that work perfectly !

First  - a little experiment - since I don't have a single Unity stencil ...  I decided to try my hand at making one using one of our dies - and this was the result!

I used the sweet little mouse and sentiment from Wishing and Wishing.... and I had a fun stencil from Tim Holtz to create that gorgeous moon ... so with that gorgorgeous night sky I layered my Distress Inks in Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans.

It was so much fun to layer this night sky!

I even added a touch of Distress Oxide and some splashes of water to make those stars...

but here is where I wanted to experiment - I used the Falling Stars Background die to make my own stencil using a piece of thicker acetate.

The result was ok - but definietely next time a piece of thicker acetate is going to be better!

I was excited to use some texture paste and add those stars to my night sky - it shows you that making your OWN stencil with a die works wiith practice!

Next up - I had a blast making this get well card to cheer up a friend who just recently went through a surgery! This Unity set is called Speedy, and this card really didn't take long at all - I simply broke out the Distress Inks/Oxides and blended my own unique panel with Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio to name a few!

I had a dies from SU! that made the perfect underwater theme, and the stencil layer on the base is from Honey Bee stamps (the stencil is called River Rocks) :)

I also layered some color and used the stencil on the inside of the card as well - I hope it brightens her day!

Finally a bit of floral inspiration for you - I paired a favorite stamp of mine
called Falling Into Place, and I colored it up using my Copics.

This butterfly was only attached by one wing and I left the other suspended to give a bit of dimension.

My Tim Holtz classic stencil called Layering Plaid was used on only a portion of the card (the ink is Sahara Sand from SU!) Just a few enamel dots as embellishments and this card was complete.

Thanks so much for stopping by, be sure to let me know you were here... and I do hope you love all of the designs our group worked on this month to inspire you! Next stop along our Hop is

Eileen!

Peace, Love n' Ink
