Friends of Unity Blog Hop - Happy Birthday!

Happy New Year, everyone!

We have had almost a week to ease in to 2023, and I hope you found time over the holidays to relax and recharge after the hustle of Christmas - I love the season, but admittedly my favorite part about it is getting some much needed days off, to be at home in my space doing my thing! I am lucky enough to get time off between Christmas and New Year, and I always spend a little of it in my crafty space (when the weather turns awful it's an even bigger reason to hide in there and get inky!)

It gives me a chance to work ahead and make a bunch of cards for friends and family - and for our Unity Blog Hops! This year, the holiday break gave me a chance to work on so many fun things. I can't wait to see all the new stamps coming our way from Unity - but I gave my current stuff a little love (and went back into the vault for a few of my old faves!)

Our first Blog Hop  of 2023 with the Friends of Unity is celebrating Birthdays! I have alot of family and friends who have birthdays right at the beginning of the year and this cue was just what I needed to inspire me!

Crystal kicked everything off this month with our Blog Hop and I do hope you check out what she designed  (need to go back? Crystal's Blog post can be found here.

I have a few things to show you this month! Here's my 1st birthday card!

This lovely lil lady is a favorite of mine! This Unity set called Demand a Recount is spunky and has a little hint of sass (I would be lying if I said I didn't want to be her when I grow up) ;)

I only inked up a bit of the image and colored her with Copics (RV11, R20 and Spectrum Noir FS9 and FS7, IG2, IG4 and AB1)

I had some fun streamer dies from SU! that I added to the panel. I have a sassy friend this card will be perfect for. :)

Next up, I used a fabulous sentiment kit from Unity, called Extended Celebration - it s the quintessential set for all things birthday. I spotted some inspiration from Unity DT member Heather Hoffman from a vintage card she made years ago and simply stamped the gift image and shadowed it with white craft ink! there is just a layer of vellum behind it. Easy peasy!

I stamped the sentiment and used another SU die (taylor made tags) and popped it up adding that sweet button and linen thread. I really like the subtle white craft and I have another card in mind using this idea. (I think I will save it for another upcoming Blog Hop!)

This last card was a breeze to put together - clean and simple is my mantra! I had a panel I had ink blended from another project I hadn't finished (I call it a PhD - Projects Half Done) and it worked better with this card idea anyway!  I still had Extended Celebration sentiment kit out on my desk so I inked up the balloons and fussy cut them. Tricky business - but I did it!  A simple vellum cloud from an SU punch was added and the sentiment is from another Unity winner, called Hugs, Kisses and Birthday Wishes.

A super simple birthday card for another friend - she likes to head out of town and "skip" her birthday (because if you do that, you don't get older, riiiight?) LOL

When she finally returns I will be sending her this card I created.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner and letting me share with you a few designs I was inspired to make with this month's cue!

Next up is Bobbie-Sue! You can head over to see what she created for you here!

Peace Love n Ink
