Friends of Unity Blog Hop - Color Inspo!
Hello, crafty friends - welcome back!
Today is a super special blogging day.... because not only is it time for another Friends of Unity Hop but today also happens to be World Cardmaking Day! That's right - an entire day devoted to this crazy hobby of mine (and yours! ) How will you be celebrating today? I will be playing in my crafty cave ALL day! No housework, no interruptions - it is going to be amazing!
I also have something fun to share at the end of my post ;)
This month our crafty cue is a color challenge - the rich fall colors are sure to inspire you to create some great fall-themed projects (and maybe even some other seasonal cards as well).
I had time to create two fun designs for you - here is my first card.
This simple "almost one layer" sympathy card showcases those rich colors in my ink blended background. I pulled out my TH Oxides and blended hints of Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Barn Door and Vintage Photo. I also added just a touch of Scorched Timber around the outside edges.
Next, I chose one of Unity's more recent stamp sets called Meadow of Memory (July 2025 KOM) and stamped the image in Versafine Onyx Black. I stamped a couple smaller spots to fill in the space at the bottom and side of the card.
The sentiment was inked up and cut using the Scalloped and Stitched sentiment dies and popped up using dimensionals. Finally, I simply splattered some gold watercolor paint on the card front.
Sympathy cards are always tough to create - but necessary. They are a great way to let someone know they are on your mind during their struggle with loss.
Next up - my 2nd card for the hop!
This fun fall card also showcases a Kit of the Month stamp set, called Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice from September 2025. I also mixed in a couple other products as well ;)
Since I had those beautiful Oxide inks still handy, I used them again for this second card, and incorporated a bit of Mowed Lawn Oxide as well - that lovely leaf stenciled background is courtesy of Lawn Fawn :)
I cut that panel with a Penny Black die and set it to the side, coloring my small images from the stamp set with my Copics. I just chose a couple - but you could add them all!
This stamp set has a cute, whimsical feel to it and I wanted to make sure those tiny additions weren't lost on the front of the card, so I inked up the sentiment on Soft Suede cardstock (an oldie from SU but yesssss - I still have some in my stash)
I heat embossed the sentiment in clear and then die cut it using Unity's Maple Impressions leaf die. I added just a touch of Scorched Timber ink to the edges of the leaf.
Next, I added it to the card front and fussy-cut those added images and popped them up with dimensionals. Again, a touch of gold splatter of watercolor paint adds just enough pop of shine.
I love how this card turned out, and it is perfect for a fall-loving, coffee-drinking friend ;)
I am the last stop in this month's Hop with my friends.... and since today is so special I would love to see what you create with your Unity stamps and this color combination! We have a little challenge happening over on the Unity Show n Tell page on FB and if you create something with these colors, please add it to the album and TAG ME - I don't want to miss a thing - I love seeing what everyone makes! I will be giving away a Unity Gift Certificate to one lucky card maker! I will announce the winner in next month's Friends of Unity Blog Hop post right here! (the 1st Saturday of the month)
Would you like to start at the beginning of our Hop? Crystal was up first; she has some beautiful cards to share with you too! In case you missed it, her Blog is HERE.
Be sure to leave some love in the comments below to let me know you stopped by!

Amazing makes, Amber! I love the simplicity of the first one and the colors! And your second is so pretty. The maple leaf is the perfect addition! TFS!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Gorgeous cards, Amber! That first one is just so stunning and a sure way to lift the spirits of anyone experiencing loss. It is so difficult to create Sympathy cards in the moment, that's for sure.
