Friends of Unity Blog Hop - Sketch Inspiration

Happy Saturday, crafty friends!!
It is time for another Friends of Unity Blog Hop!

My friends and I have a sketch to inspire you this month. Many times, having a sketch to begin with is like having a map - it is welcome for giving you something to start with for layers and layout of a card.
This is a great sketch, and I have a couple designs to show you! Here is my first card :)

I tried to stick as close to the sketch as possible for this card, and I used quite a few fabulous Unity goodies!

I stamped a release from last year's In The Light collection, called Serenity Circle: Where Hope Blooms Again. I used both the drooping coneflower and the blooming coneflower, and colored them using alcohol markers. I fussy-cut them, but Unity also has digital cut-files for you to use with this image. The sentiment is also from this stamp set. Next, I used the Scallops and Arches nesting dies and cut a panel of white cardstock. I gave it a bit of ink blending using a complementary shade of pink and then stamped the script image from the Soul Mail stamp set.
I decided I wanted to go with no pattern paper for this card, so I inked up a smaller background stamp called Hearts of Old and it fits PERFECTLY on a panel cut using the BIG Scallops and Rectangles dies. (Sadly this stamp is no longer available.. but we have a couple very very similar background stamps - check out Criss Cross Hearts   or Hearts All Over. )
I added a scrap of cardstock I had embossed that was sitting in my scrap bin and cut it to fit.

I layered everything together and added it to a cardstock base in Crumb Cake.

Next up... my second card.....

This little beauty was actually created specifically for someone special - my daughter has a birthday coming up and this was made with her in mind!

I tried to make her look like my girl, J...

I inked up Twinkleheart and heat embossed her before coloring her with Copics. I also added Wink of Stella all over her little wings and dress.. and then decided to add Glossy Accents to make her wings shine.

I added just a hint of ink blending to shadow her, and cut the layer with our Scallops & Arches nesting dies.
Next, I decided to use an alternate sentiment from another stamp set called laughs.memories.friendship. Sadly this one is in the vault but I thought it was perfect for my birthday girl, so I dug into my stash for this one.
I wanted to split up that sentiment a bit to make it fit, then added a couple stars using a small punch.
The sparkly paper is fun, and a few layers of paper finished this card off so I could pop it in the mail and send it on it's way.

If you didn't start at the beginning of the Hop, Crystal kicked things off over on her Blog... you can check out her inspiration HERE.

Next stop is Jenni's Blog and I know her cards are so cute - you have to see them!
