CYCI #143 - Rejoice! It's a Giveaway!

Happy Sunday!
Can you believe that a week from today it will be Christmas morning??? What a whirlwind December has been! The stockings are hung, the presents are wrapped, and I think I am ready- ready for 4 days off in a row!!! HAHAHA
The weather has been bitterly cold, but it has warmed up slightly, and warmer temperatures are on the way .... -25 seems much more reasonable (yes...that's warming up, folks!)

Today I am sharing with you my final card of 2016 - using our sketch from Can You Case It - our challenge will last a wonderful 3 weeks to get you through the holidays! Then, when you come back,  we can see all of the amazing crafty goodness you make - if you were good and Santa was good to you ;)

I am celebrating the end of the craft show season - so the sentiment on this card is well-suited! It also reminds us to Rejoice in the reason for the Season - the true meaning of Christmas.
Here's the details!
Stamps: (FSJ) Stained Glass, (CTMH) Rejoice
Ink: Versamark, Black Archival
Paper (SU!) - Natural White, Gold Foil
Tools: (Papertrey Ink) Embossing plate, (SU) Gold embossing powder, (SU) Stiched dies, and (FSJ) Silk
Embellishments:(misc) Sequins, Gold Elastic cord, Washi
I have to admit - I have had those Silks from Fun Stampers Journey for awhile, and I hadn't had a minute to play with them until now - which is SAD!!! Because they are AWESOME, and now.... I could've created some amazing Christmas cards using the Stained Glass stamps with it! Well - there is always next year!
Or... stay tuned.... I may sneak some wonderful non-Christmas projects in yet with this stamp set! After all... there is 3 weeks until our next challenge!

I am also sharing the spirit of giving with you - by having another giveaway here on my blog! I have a basket of goodies just waiting for a new home!

To be entered, please leave a comment here on my blog telling me what is your FAVORITE part of the Christmas season!

From my home to yours, I want to wish you the BEST for 2017 - may you be blessed with health and a peaceful heart!

Love, Peace, and Ink xo

Can You Case It #142

Here we are... Sunday Funday! Oh...how I have missed you :)

It has been a very long week! At least - it has felt like it...with big deadlines at work.... Christmas shopping stress (I find shopping malls way too "peopley" even on a good day!), and my hubby working day and night it seems like the weekend is gone with the blink of an eye and we begin another turn of the rat race again. I always use Sunday to recharge my batteries for the upcoming week...so today is going to be dedicated to spending quality time with my better half and catching up on a bit of R&R.

Sundays are ALSO the beginning of our fabulous 2-week challenge over at Can You Case It! - our amazing Design Team members love seeing what crafty goodness you create with our challenges! Here's another fantastic color challenge for you!

 Can You Case It

I went a little crazy with the shimmer on this one (used some Glimmer Mist) and the snowflakes are from the Frosted Medallions set from SU! I pulled out a Unity Stamp set called Believe In The Magic for that awesome silver embossed sentiment. That purple cardstock just SHINES!

Check out the other Design Team cards for inspiration and link your beautiful creation to our challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #141 - Sketch Challenge

Do you ever find that the SIMPLEST things can be the most challenging sometimes???
Well... for me (the "clean and simple Queen", as I claim) this challenge was absolutely  the hardest one I had to do in awhile!

But here it is!

I used SU! Cardstock for the base, and stamped the snowflake from the Tin of Tags stamp set in Real Red. I grabbed a piece of paper from the Echo Park "I Love Family" collection, which I got in the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit,  and made some felted "ribbon" using some scraps of card stock in Real Red and Emerald Envy. And for that sentiment?? Well, I had a Project Life card that was still sitting on my desk from a previous craft session.... it just seemed to fit!
A couple little enamel dots and that was all this clean and simple card needed!

Be sure to join us - you now have 2 weeks to play along with Can You Case It!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #186

Welcome back everyone!
I am pretty sure I am not just the only one who has begun to look toward the holiday season and begin to prepare (you can only hide for so long, right?)

This week over at Atlantic Hearts, I used our sketch to create a Christmas card!

I had an AWESOME private party this weekend with a  fantastic group of 1st time stampers! Our Cards n'Cocktails was a blast - from the great food, awesome friendship and the comments like "I can't believe this was so much fun!" - I would call that a success! So, I still had some crafty goodness I had to put away from the party and I used some of those "scraps" to create this project!

Here's the details:
(All items SU! unless specified)
Paper: CS - Real  Red/Kraft
DSP - Candy Cane Lane
Tools: Wonderful Wreath die/ Martha Stewart punch/ Softly Falling Embossing Folder
Gold rope trim

Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #140 - We're Back!!!

Isn't this exciting???
Welcome back!!!
Awhile back, we were saddened to learn our amazing challenge blog was going to disappear.... but fantastic news!!! We are back, everyone!! We will be trying out a new format and our challenges will be twice a month - PLENTY of time to join in and play along!!

I LOVE kraft - it is my ultimate fave - and this color combo shouts "Fall" - which made me happy as I am full steam ahead with Christmas cards. This was a wonderful break!
My combination of colds is Recollections cardstock, and I cut the feathers with Stampin Up Feather dies. I inked up SU's Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in some Crumb Cake ink and stamped it off before using Celestial Copper Delicata Ink. I grabbed a sentiment from Paper Smooches "Uplifters" stamp set and then used a wee bit of washi, linen threads and some blingy copper sequins to finish everything off!

 Can You Case It

I really hope you are as excited about CYCI's return - and join us for  our challenges!!!

Creative Corner Challenge - Encouragement

Hi everyone! I am back  with my 2nd blog post this week - you are all going to be quite sick of me by Sunday!!!!

Today I have a Creative Corner Challenge for you - this week we are focusing on "Encouragement"!

I think everyone could use a little "hand UP" every now and then - and this card will be for someone who has been going through some tough times. She is BRAVE. And strong.

Here are the details for my design:
Stamp: (Unity) June 2016 Kit of The Month
Ink: (SU)  Pool Party, Versamark
Paper: Watercolor paper, Vellum, (SU) Cardstock, (We R Memory Keepers) Wild Spirit
Linen thread
Tools: (MFT)  In&Out Diag. Stitched Rectangles

I used the "emboss resist" technique on my watercolour paper and the sentiment - choosing to emboss it in gold - the printed paper from We R Memory Keepers is one of my all-time faves! I really like how this turned out!

Let's all try to encourage one another - brighten someone's day and create a card form your heart!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Corner-Black and White Challenge!

Hello everyone!
What's black n' white and super fast???
This card, of course!
This week over at Creative Corner Challenges we have a "black and white" challenge!

Here's what I did!

I always think clean and simple is the way to go - so I stuck with a simple die from Memory Box, and I added a couple simple gems (I had to add some bling, right?!) and used a simple and sweet sentiment from Lil Inkers !

That is honestly the fasted Christmas card in the history of EVER!

Join our Creative Corner challenge this week!
And thanks for stopping in!

CYCI #140 - A Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone!
Can you believe it is already October?? The summer has flown by, and the chill in the air has arrived!
It's sweater weather! (Well, in my corner of the big ol' world it is)
Canadian Thanksgiving is coming soon,  and we should all be thankful and gracious for what we have been given! This week, we saw a huge change happen, with the news that our amazing Can You Case It blog ending. Eva worked tirelessly along with a Design Team that was always so excited to create some inspiration for you. I have no doubt something will evolve from this amazing transformation.
I have been invited to Design for another team and I will be moving on to that creative endeavor. So thank you, to all who shared, designed, created and believed.
Since I had this card designed and ready, I am using the Can You Case It sketch as inspiration.

I was a bit sneaky and used an awesome Project Life card from the Seasonal Snapshot 2015 set - SU had offered a fantastic sale and this set of PL cards are so perfect for pocket scrapbooking AND card making !

Here are the details:
Stamp: (SU!) Thoughtful Branches/And Many More
Ink: (SU!) Soft Suede/Versamark
Paper: (SU!) Whisper White/Kraft/Delightful Dijon/Early Espresso/Pumpkin Pie
Tools: (SU!) Beautiful Branches thinlits/ (SU) Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Embossing folder/Seasonal Snapshots 2015 PL card

Everything came together quick and easy using that PL card - and the embossing folder is GORGEOUS - perfect for a fall/winter card. Oh - and here is a little hint: before you place your cardstock in the embossing folder, give it a LIGHT mist of water - it will give your paper a bit of "stretch" going through your Big Shot, and the paper will have some "give" to it. :)

I will be moving over to Atlantic Hearts Challenges as a Design Team member beginning tomorrow, so I will still be creating on a weekly basis for inspiration - be sure to check them out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Atlantic Hearts Challenge #178 - Another Post, Oh Deer!

Hi everyone!
I am back again today with another sketch challenge from Atlantic Hearts! I just squeaked in to the challenge last week in the nick of time but this week I am cruising! I had another day off which gave me some MUCH welcomed time up in my studio and time to play with some awesome new crafty goodness from CTMH!

I LOVE non traditional colors for Christmas so this was right up my alley!
Here's the details:

Stamp: (CTMH) Woodland Wishes
Ink: Black Archival/Versamark
Paper: (CTMH) Oh Deer!/ Uptown Fundamentals/Vellum/White Daisy/
 Sea Glass CS/Gold Foil
Misc: (SU) Gold star paper clip/Gold beads

I heat embossed some clear embossing powder over the black archival ink just to add a bit of shine - I tried almost every coordinating color for that sentiment but the black made it "pop"! the best - so that was what I chose!

CYCI #138 - Shake It - Shaker Card Challenge AND Giveaway!

Happy Sunday all!
The chill is in the air - we have days of +20 followed by days of +4 and nights dipping below the zero mark already! September is my most favourite month.... it signals a huge collective "sigh" in the earth as she waits to sleep. All the dramatic color inspires me!

Can You Case ItThis week over on the Can You Case It blog we have a shaker card challenge! Believe it or not, this girl had only attempted a shaker once before this! And I will not show you how THAT turned out! (note: I am *still* vacuuming up glitter out of the carpet in the studio!)
So this WAS a definite challenge for me! Thank goodness for Eva and her awesome "how-to" video... life saver, girl!
I spotted some inspiration on Pinterest for this card, and the fall colors had me hooked!

After the awesome hints from Eva on the easiest ways to make a shaker I went to work. And while a square is much easier (mental note for next time) I am ALWAYS up for a challenge!
Here are the details:

Stamps: (SU!) Suite Seasons (from the NEW holiday catty!)
Thoughtful Branches bundle
Ink: (SU!) Early Espresso/Cajun Craze/Old Olive/Versamark
CS: (SU!) Early Espresso/Kraft/White
Other stuff: (SU!) Bakers Twine (Bakers Twine trio pack from the holiday catty!)
(misc) sequins, beads and raffia!

Creative Corner Challenges - No Patterned Paper

TGIF!
Its another fabulous weekend on the horizon - the weather is supposed to be FABULOUS for the upcoming few days - which is great because it has been a little frosty at night here already!
It is WAY too soon to think about the dreaded "W" word!

This week over at Creative Corner Challenges we have a great challenge for you - NO PATTERNED PAPER..... so... I made my own!

I dug into my Paper Smooches stamps to create the background for this card! I used the "Flap Happy" stamp set...stamping it using Tim Holtz distress inks in Shabby Shutters, Tumbled Glass, and Victorian Velvet.  I cut a rectangle in Whisper White CS using the MFT Wonky Rectangle die. And finally, the sentiment is from another Paper Smooches stamp set... called "Group Hugs".

Please play along with our challenge this week! And thank you for stopping by!

CYCI # 137 - Color Challenge!

Welcome!
If you are anything like me, September seems to go by in a flash! Autumn is my ultimate FAVE season.... it signals a huge shift in the way the world moves... it slows down, and begins to go to sleep. At least here in our neck of the woods! Haha
This transition at times is a bit sad, but it also brings the excitement of looking forward to the holiday season!
Too early?
Well..... for a carmaker/artist and all around artsy-farsty junkie... this signals TRADE SHOWS! CRAFT RETREATS! and WORKSHOPS!
It may sound like insanity (it does to my hubby!) I begin focusing on the Christmas season in August... trade shows and Craft Fairs are beginning in full force by Sept/October. With that... Christmas cards are on my agenda....  while the beach babes are still catching the last rays of summer.
Can You Case ItAnd this week at Can You Case It , we devoted our challenge to a color scheme that seemed perfect for a fun...non-traditional combo to use for a Christmas card!

I always get a bit bored with traditional Red/Green design for Christmas and sometimes I like to step outside the box! That's what I did here!
Here's the details!

Stamp and Die set: (NEW!SU!) Star of Light - from the Holiday mini!
Paper: (Bazzill)-Bankroll (SU!)-Flirty Flamingo, Vellum
Ink: (SU!) Smoky Slate
Embossing powder: (SU!) Smoky slate/mixed with glitter
Brad: EK Success

Lesson learned on this card: I *probably* should have used a much darker ink for the sentiment, BUT... I wanted to purely stick to the challenge ... and I wish the picture would do it justice, but that "swirl" of stars has SO much glitter and shine with the embossing, it looks great on the subtle shimmer of the Bazzill cardstock!

Thanks for checking out my card this week, and be sure to stop at all the Design Team blogs to show some love! Let's see what you can do! Join our color challenge this week!

Fresh, Clean and Simple Christmas-FMS #253/SIP #64

Hi everyone!
I have been pretty busy with a lot of projects and WORK (Boo! No fun at all!) but I was lucky enough to have THREE days off this week! My boss is THE BEST!
So I decided to play with a couple challenges! Here is my card!

Here are the details on my card!

Ink: (SU!) Real Red
Stamp: (SU!) Merriest Wishes
Dies/Framelits: (SU!) Merry Tags Framelits/Pretty Pines Thinlets
Paper: Kraft Cardstock/(SU!) Hello December 2016 Project Life card
Supplies: Wink of Stella/(SU!) Gold Baker's twine

I am discovering how fast and easy it is to use those Project Life cards for some simple layers on cards! I will definitely be doing that for the busy Christmas season! Also, the little shimmer from Stella is SO cute! And SO hard to capture  in a photo! But it sure sparkles!

Freshly Made SketchesI played along with Freshly Made Sketches

Stamp, Ink, Paper I also joined the Stamp, Ink, Paper "Clean and Simple" challenge

Please leave some love so I know you stopped by, and thanks for checking out my crafty creation!

CYCI #136 - Sketch Challenge!

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another AMAZING and creative challenge this week from over at Can You Case It!
This week, we have a sketch challenge for you!
 Can You Case It

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this sketch - because I am lovin' the layers!! I had so much fun with this one, and I hope you do too!

Here's the details!....
I pulled out my Ken Oliver Color Bursts and created a warm background on watercolour paper with a real "autumn" feel.... Some of the colours I used were Merlot, Tangerine and Orange and that wonderful Yellow Ochre! Next I stamped that beautiful tree image from Unity Stamps set Could I Be Any Cuter. I used black ink but then embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it some SHINE!  I used another Unity Stamp for the sentiment - this time it's from the Let Your Wishes Fly sentiment kit. I layered all of this over some Kraft and Delightful Dijon cardstock from SU! My base seemed a bit too "White" for all of this wonderful color, so I used a bit of Blackberry Bliss, Pumpkin Pie and Delightful Dijon (stamped off) and used the popular splatter stamp from SU! in the Gorgeous Grunge collection. Finally I embellished this fun thank you card with some AWESOME fibres from EK Success!

All of the CYCI Design Team members have  come up with some wonderful creations this week-be sure to check them out! Be sure to join this challenge - this sketch ROCKS!  And leave me some love in the comment section below so I know you stopped by! Have a GREAT week!

Hello everyone!
This week over at the Creative Corner Challenges, we have an awesome sponsor!
Thank you to A Day For Daisies for sponsoring the cool digi stamps for our Fairytale challenge!

That background was made with one digi stamp that I placed on watercolour paper and used my Ken Oliver ColorBursts in Lemon Yellow and some SU! ink in Costal Cabana with my Aqua Painter to add a splash of color! The sentiment is from Unity Stamps and I used the metallic Ken Oliver ColorBursts for a hint of lemony shimmer! I finished things off with a few sequins and some thin black satin ribbon!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to join the challenge over at the Creative Corner!
